Join us for a day of family fun! Bring down a blanket and picnic and meet the other beautiful families in our community celebrating mixed ancestries and cultural heritage. Wonderful music & dance, family yoga, face-painting, henna and other family fun!

Kutapira
What started thirteen years ago as a youth world music initiative has metamorphosized into the crowd pleasing percussion explosion known today as Kutapira!
The name Kutapira means "sweetness" in the Shona language of Zimbabwe, a fitting title for a band that plays a fusion of Zimbabwean marimba with West African and Afro-cuban percussion and more.
This highly stylized marimba fusion consists of some contemporary Zimbabwean tunes but the majority of the music is composed and arranged by Kutapira and inspired by genres like Reggae, Funk, Latin Jazz, Samba, Cumbia, Disco and Hip Hop. For years they performed exclusively as a mallet swinging, skin-slapping quintet but now, in their latest evolutionary form, feature guitar, horns and vocals.
Kyle Toy - Michael Jackson Tribute Artist
Kyle Toy is a multi-faceted and versatile performer, working in the worlds of film acting, theater, and dance. He has acted in films such as the Sony Pictures feature "Center Stage: Turn it Up" and the Insight films feature "Personal Effects" with Ashton Kutcher & Michelle Pfieffer. Toy has also starred in several independent films and worked with theatre companies in his home of Vancouver, all while maintaining a steady schedule of guest roles with dance companies throughout Canada, including the Alberta Ballet and the Michael Jackson tribute show "Thriller is Back".
Yoga with Patty Javier Gomez
Patty uses yoga as an expression to pour her heart out ,so through through her classes that's what you will receive, love and a held space for you to feel. Yoga has helped her connect with her authentic self through tears, sweat and perseverance.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Patty Javier Gomez moved to Canada when she was 8 years old. In her words, "It was then growing in suburbia populated by mainly Caucasian people that I lost a sense of who I was and my heritage. Growing up all I wanted to do was fit in, having a background that is of mixed race and looking more 'black' than 'latino' I was often pressured to choose a side. I never knew which to choose because I identify with both. I am happy to say that adversity, identity crisis and lots of self love has brought me to a place where I am comfortable in my own skin."
Nargis Dhirani
Nargis Dhirani is a Filipino-Tanzanian interdisciplinary artist from Dubai, U.A.E., currently based in Vancouver, Canada. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Studio Art from American University in Dubai and her Yoga Teacher Training certification from Karma Teachers College. Her work addresses concepts that centre around cultural and female identity, self-representation, fear, and comfort. She works in digital collage, soft sculpture, installation, video, painting and photography. Nargis has an interest in kinetic sculpture and installations that are interactive with the public. She has won the Sheikha Manal Young Artist’s Award for People’s Choice in 2012. She is now working on continuing to serving the community to promote creativity and wellness through Yoga and Art.
Henna with Jasmine
Jasmine Cambon is a student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada. She has enjoyed designing simple henna patterns for children which she has tested out on many little, active hands over the past few years. She won the Emily Carr Award at Point Grey Secondary as well as an Artona Bursary. You can see her art portfolio on Behance.
